Meditation

What is Meditation?

Cultures across the world have practiced meditation for thousands of years. Meditation has numerous physical, mental, and emotional benefits, though the purpose is to simply be present and experience your life and surroundings fully.

“Meditation is a deliberate training of attention that awakens us beyond the conditioned mind and habitual thinking, and reveals the nature of reality. There are many forms of meditation—a variety of skillful means to quiet the mind and open the heart. There are countless contemplative practices, devotional practices, concentration subjects, mantras, visualizations, energy trainings, and inner listening practices to foster awakening, understanding, and love.” - Tara Brach

Why I Teach Meditation

I’ve studied meditation since 2009 and found my home in Insight meditation (or Vipassana meditation) specifically the concentration practice of metta. Metta or loving-kindness meditation is the practice of directing positive wishes toward all beings everywhere. Metta meditation develops care, concern, tenderness, friendship, love, and feelings of warmth for oneself and others. It has supported me in growing a greater sense of gratitude and compassion, which, as a result, has opened up space for healing and joy in my life.

Mindfulness Meditation

Currently I’m only offering private sessions. Connect with me to explore options. I want to ensure everyone has access.

You can also visit my Instagram account (@soulfulelephant) for archived meditation sessions. Each archived meditation invites practitioners to train their attention—not to empty the mind but rather to strengthen the capacity to experience things directly, “as they are.” Visit @soulfulelephant’s any time to practice with archived sessions.
